It’s been quite a busy few weeks for the Jimmy Asher Foundation. We welcomed back Co-Founder Joseph from his travels to The Gambia in West Africa where he was developing a youth support project with government officials through the JAF Global initiative.
We also said ‘au revoir’ (goodbye) to our bubbly French intern Sarah who had been working in our Tooting office for the last two months. Sarah did a great job with office admin and even did some design work for us. We’re sure she enjoyed her experience at JAF and wish her all the best on her return to France.
Two new Youth Radio Broadcasting workshops started earlier this month - One workshop is based at Pollards Hill Youth Centre in Merton and the other is a joint venture with community youth organisation Ambitious Academy at St John's Community Centre in Islington. It’s great watching the young people getting to grips with radio production and gaining confidence in discussing gritty topics when presenting.
We have also furthered our partnership with Fulham FC Foundation by delivering more B2B Basketball sessions at the Roupell Park Estate MUGA in Brixton on Wednesday evenings. Together we’re working on combining some of our Sports programmes with our Media projects resulting in exciting new multi-genre workshops.
Over in Merton, JAF have been commissioned to deliver a summer programme of Sports and Media workshops at Pollards Hill Youth Centre and Phipps Bridge Youth Centre. In addition to this we will also be running Youth Boxing Coaching Sessions at Bruce Grove in Tottenham, Haringey. More details coming soon on our website and social media pages.
